Adware & Spyware can dramatically slow down your system. We recommend regularly scanning with Adaware and Spybot.
Viruses & Trojans can corrupt your data and applications. We recommend AVG Antivirus and using an up-to-date firewall.

Are you getting a strong signal, but slow or no Internet access?

The signal meter in most Wi-Fi software (showing how many "bars" you have) only tells you about the strength of the signal coming from the access point. If the access point is getting a weak signal back from your Wi-Fi adapter, it won't be able to transmit data to you effectively. The solution is to move closer to the access point, or to upgrade to a stronger Wi-Fi adapter or Wi-Fi Repeater.

Can't connect through an access point that you've selected?

Before you conclude that the problem is with your hardware or settings, try connecting through a few other Wi-Fi networks, if available. If you can connect to one but not another, it could be that the network you can't connect to isn't giving out IP addresses, or is locked down to specific computers, or is operating without a connection to the Internet.
